A coalition built on shared purpose, not shared geography
RISE UP began with 27 organizations from across the ocean community coming together around the Blue Call to Action.
They included small-scale fishers’ organizations, Indigenous Peoples’ organizations, international NGOs and philanthropic partners.
Today, RISE UP connects members across regions and movements, from grassroots fishing cooperatives and community-led organizations to international NGOs.
Through thematic clusters, members share knowledge, coordinate advocacy, and engage with national and international policy processes. What connects the network is a shared commitment to ensuring that the people and communities most closely connected to the ocean have a meaningful role in shaping its future.
