Who We Are

A small team, a big mission

RISE UP is a small, dedicated secretariat supporting a network of over 750 organizations worldwide. We work across ocean governance, civil society advocacy, and international policy — and we're looking for people who care deeply about both.

We're a values-driven organization. The ocean is not an abstraction for us — it's the livelihood of hundreds of millions of people, and our work is grounded in the communities who depend on it. If that resonates with you, you'll fit right in.

We're committed to building a diverse and inclusive team that reflects the breadth of our global network. We particularly welcome applications from people in the Global South and from communities on the front lines of ocean and climate issues.

Our work directly influences ocean policy at the international level — from BBNJ negotiations to UNFCCC and the FAO. The stakes are real.

You'll work with people and organizations across Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, the Pacific Islands, and beyond. Remote-friendly by design.

Policy, communications, network facilitation, campaigns, events — RISE UP roles tend to cut across multiple disciplines. Generalists who go deep thrive here.

We serve our member network, not the other way around. Collaboration, listening, and solidarity are at the core of how we operate day-to-day.
